EMS Socket

The science of the EMS Socket design brings to the patient and the practitioner a new concept in socket environment, which is based on university studies of the physics and physiology of the residual limb. It optimizes the problematic interfacing of the limb and the socket. The transtibial socket interface is comprised of prosthetic and soft tissue layers sandwiched between the outer socket and bony remnants. The layers forming the transtibial socket interface have five attributes that are largely responsible for the interface being so problematic for the amputee. The EMS socket increases the surface area of the flexible inner socket by 100% due to the multi-surfacing. Both its inner and outer sockets are dynamic in nature thereby accommodating shape changes that are taking place during prosthetic usage. The EMS flexible inner socket is a custom manufactured injected molded elastomeric urethane. This patented socket allows for a variety of custom features.
